Your Feedback Is Requested
This is a meme of tennis player Jannik Sinner doing his hands-on-hips pose, aka the teapot pose, which he does a lot. I don't know why I'm using it here, it just makes me laugh

Hi friends. I need your help figuring something out.

As you know, I've been writing this newsletter consistently for a solid year and a half now. Exactly a year and a half, in fact! I started Meets Most in 2023 but didn't fully commit to it until January 1, 2025, when I promised myself, and anyone who was here at the time, that I would send out a newsletter every Wednesday. I've kept that promise. (Technically one of them did go out on a Thursday, but it was like 12:05 am, so it counts.)

I'm proud of this, and I'm also really glad I've stuck with it. It's been a valuable experience for many reasons, not least that I have great readers who leave insightful comments or send thoughtful messages. Writing it has also been sort of like a personal workshop of sorts, a way to build back up my writing muscles and find my voice again. My goal is to keep doing it for as long as I can!

Meets Most is a reader-supported newsletter (no ads, no affiliate links). If you like it, you can subscribe. If you really like it, you can become a paid subscriber. If you love it, you can wire me money directly. Your support means a lot! Thanks for being here.

Become a Paid Subscriber

But it is work, and work I mostly do for free. Yes, I have some paid subscribers (if you're one of them, thank you from the bottom of my heart) but that mostly helps me pay to use Ghost (the platform this newsletter is on) plus maybe pay for part of my internet bill. I don't paywall it, unlike many newsletters, because... I don't know, really. I want people to be able to read it, and there are just so many subscriptions to pay for lately. The unfortunate reality is that I do have to start turning my attention to finding more work that will pay me, and I don't know how that will impact this writing. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess!

For now, I want your opinion on something else: Taking breaks. I've taken very few of them, really only for moving, being sick, going to the US Open. But I think I need a break now and again. I just don't know how best to do them here, or how to schedule them. The consistency of sending something every single Wednesday has been important, I think, because it helps build a devoted readership. So I'd like to send something out even when I have a break planned, even if it's just a photo and an out of office message, but I don't know if that's annoying. Is it better to let you know when I'll be taking a break and then send nothing that week? Do you like the consistency of getting something from me every week? How do you feel about housekeeping updates in general?

I suppose I should do a poll here but I don't feel like figuring out how to do that in Ghost, so I'll ask instead for comments or replies to this in email. What are your thoughts on breaks? How do you suggest I go about them? What would you like to see here going forward? Would you be sad if this newsletter disappeared? Do you have any other important feelings you want to share? I'm all ears.

Come join us in comments on Meets Most, because I'd love to hear your thoughts.

We'll be back to Add Yours soon, hopefully next week. And I promise I'll write about other stuff again too. Until next Wednesday.
