What's On Your Mind?
The relentless cold finally broke here in New York, and the past few days have been nothing short of glorious. As much as I don't love winter, I do love the visceral, almost primal appreciation I have for warmth and sunshine after weeks and weeks of deep freeze and snow. If you're on the east coast, hopefully you've also been enjoying it. If you're in California, keep it to yourself.
Given all the distracting sunshine and the distracting world events, plus my own ongoing life distractions, I decided to mix things up a little bit. I want to know what you're thinking about. What's got your attention? What do you want to read more about – or less? What do you wish you understood better?
Here are a few unfortunate tidings from tech & beyond that caught my eye:
You Could Be Next: Laid-off lawyers, history PhDs, and scientists are now part of a miserable gig economy in which they’re teaching AI how to do their old jobs.
Grammarly has turned real people into "AI experts" without their permission – now the company says it's "pulling down" – aka hitting pause, you know it won't disappear – on this feature
Mark Zuckerberg paid Alexandr Wang $14 billion last year and already Meta and Wang might be breaking up?
If only I'd focused on the sociology of fashion like I wanted to (and stayed on Substack) maybe I too could have a fashion newsletter that brings in nearly $300,000 a year for my content ("content").
How about you? Let me know – send me a message or comment below.
Until next Wednesday.
